CURRICULUM VITAE

Born in Altamura (BA) – Italy on February 22, 1968.
Doctor degree in Biochemical Sciences at the University of Bari on July 1994.
Thesis in Inorganic Chemistry: “New method of synthesis of anhydrous alkylammonium tetraphenylborates based on carbon dioxide utilization. Study of their reactivity as inter and intramolecular proton transfer agents”.

From 1995 to 1997 she has carried research activities within a European Project in collaboration with Lund University. In 2000 she was appointed Researcher at the University of Bari. She is Associate Professor of Inorganic Chemistry since 2006 at the University of Bari, Department of Chemistry (confirmed in 2009).

She participated in the Enabling National Scientific, session 2012, CHIM03/B1 sector, resulting suited for the role of Professor rated 'excellent'. Rector's delegate for "Research and innovation in the field of bioenergy and materials derived from biomass".

She has taught the following topics: General and inorganic chemistry, Inorganic methodologies for the environment, Enzymatic catalysis, Synthesis and use of catalysts, Advanced inorganic chemistry.

Areas of scientific interest are: - Coordination Chemistry, Metallorganic Chemistry and Catalysis and synthesis of transition metal complexes and oxides used as catalysts in innovative (low environmental impact) synthetic methodologies; - Solid state and solution characterization using several techniques such as XRD, BET, XPS, IR, NMR, CPMAS-NMR, SEM. TEM, DRIFT, TPD, etc; - Carbon dioxide utilization in the synthesis of chemicals; - Use of supercritical fluids as reaction media; - Use of supercritical CO2 as solvent and reagent; - Soil remediation; - Carbon dioxide fixation in biomass used as energy source; - Lipids extractions from algae using techniques such as extraction with solvents assisted by MW and US, or scCO2 and thermochemical liquefaction; - Synthesis of heterogeneous catalysts with tunable acid/base properties; - Water free lipid conversion into FAMEs; - Synthesis of new catalytic systems for simultaneous conversion of lipids and fatty acids; - Synthesis of alkyl carbonates from urea and CO2; - Synthesis of cyclic carbonates through oxidative carboxylation of olefins. Research Activities in National and International Projects: 1995-1997: Research activity within the European Project COST D3/0007/94 (1994-1997) co-ordinated by Prof. R. Larsson, University of Lund, Sweden entitled “Modeling of Selective Energy Transfer, Spatial and Time Coherence in Catalytic Reactions, Tested on Carbon Dioxide Reaction”.

1998-1999: Research activity within the Project POP Regione Puglia entitled: “Data Base on Soil Remediation Technologies”. 1999-2000: Research activity within the EU-RUCADI Project, BRRT-CT98-5089 1998-2002: Research activity within the European Project COST D9/0012/98 co-ordinated by Prof. R. Larsson, University of Lund, Sweden entitled “Development and Applications of Theoretical Models on Catalysis to support the design of Improved Catalysts”. 2004-2005: Expert for the Programme for the Innovation and Improvement of the relationship between Industry and Research through Biotechnology – F.E.S.R.
